“Friends with Classic Cars,” the Last Hurrah! Fall 2023, will happen October 14 & 15 from 11:00 a.m.- 6:00 p.m. This event will bring together scores of vintage vehicles built between 1920 and 1993. Owners will have an opportunity to reminisce about times gone bye and network with those who like collecting antique auto-cars. There will be Food Trucks and this year something new.
Join our “Cavalcade of Classic Cars” Saturday 10/14 at 1:00 p.m. We are looking to have thirty vehicles built between 1920 and 1993 to join us. Travel back in time and drive through some of Detroit’s oldest and most elegant neighborhoods
In this park, located at 14300 Burgess Street corner of Acacia, participants can share their love for all things "Classic Automobiles" and all things History. We will have a retro campsite complete with bonfire, folks dressed in period clothing and fun for whole family.
The show is free to the public. Owners of any restored vehicle older than 1993 are welcome to display. Past shows have had in attendance a 1941 Lincoln from the Ford Family, 1962 Cobra that was completely restored plus Model T’s and Model A’s from the 1900 through 1920’s and of course, classic muscle cars. On hand will be a 1926 Model “TT” from the Faygo Beverage Company and many more historic vehicles.
Have a vehicle built in 1993 or before? For additional information about the Classic Car Event or to register, call (313)694-6873
Thanks for joining our travel through time. We will experience the neighborhoods of North Rosedale, Rosedale Park, Grandmont and Minock Park. We will begin at 1:00 p.m. and the total trip should last about forty-five minutes. Hold on and enjoy the ride!
Your safety is our major concern. As you drive through the area please obey all traffic laws, traffic signals and traffic signs. We have selected a route with few traffic signals to make it easier to stay together. The stop signs and the speed humps are things that we could not avoid. Please drive 25 miles per hour or less through all residential blocks. Don't forget to wave at the residents.
HERE WE GO!
When you exit the Etheldra Mae Williams Park, turn right onto Acacia Street and begin your trek. Drive one block to Outer Drive then make another right turn. Follow Outer Drive as it bends right and continue approximately one mile until it bends left near Chalfonte Street. Welcome to Minock Park! Make a right turn onto Chalfonte and drive down to Glastonbury where you will make another right turn. Notice the beautiful homes and the pristine lawns. Continue along this street to Lyndon. Lyndon is a through street with a bridge to the next neighborhood.
Make a left turn onto Lyndon Street then drive across the Southfield Expressway Bridge. Welcome to Grandmont. Now travel to Abington Street. Stop at this corner, flash your lights and sound your horn twice. Now make a right turn and travel to Acacia Street and make another right turn to Rutland. Now turn right again. Yes, we just made three right turns. That is the same as a left, but much more exciting! Continue straight to Grand River and stop at the light, how beautiful were those homes? Gorgeous, right?
Now, here is where it gets a little tricky. When the light turns green, make a left turn to cross Grand River and make a quick right onto Biltmore. Go about five hundred feet and take the fork in the road, to the LEFT. You will now be on Gilchrist Street. Drive north on this street to Puritan. Now let’s make a left turn and travel across the Southfield Expressway to Glastonbury. We are now in the Community of North Rosedale. The streets are a bit narrower so be careful. Take Glastonbury to Bretton and make another right turn. Follow Bretton to Outer Drive and turn left. This is the last leg of our Cavalcade.
Travel Outer Drive all the way back to Acacia, (remember that Outer Drive bends in two places). Turn left back to Etheldra Mae Williams Park.
A trip down Memory Lane. How much fun was that?
