The Brightmoor Lights Holiday Festival happens December 18, 2024 through January 3, 2025. Two long city blocks will be decorated with life-sized, double life-sized and triple life-sized ornaments. Darcy Street and Burgess Street through the Etheldra Mae Williams Park are included. Holiday traditions from around the world will be on display.
We are seeking local artists to participate in this annual event by making a Nutcracker Statue. Our Nutcracker Garden will have twenty statues on display. Each statue will be twelve feet tall and made from recycled materials. Participating artists will be supplied all necessary objects to complete a statue. Items included are recycled paint, carpet, tarpaulins, PVC pipes, lumber, cardboard, plastic bottles and other things.
Artists will have access to our Northwest Detroit workshop daily until 9:00 p.m. All creations MUST be completed by 5:00 p.m. December 14th 2024.
On December 18th, during our opening ceremony, a panel of judges will select three creations to be awarded prizes. First place will receive $500, second place will receive $250 and third place will receive $100.
Additionally, each creation will be auctioned to collectors in an effort to raise monies for our parks. 20% of the auction proceeds will be given to the creating artist.
Join us for this fun and community uplifting event. Call Michael at (313)694-6873 to register. Deadline is November 30, 2024 5:00 p.m.
